IN MEMORIAM
Arturo Casco
Arturo Casco, a pastor and church planter in Honduras National Conference,
passed away on October 4, 2001. He was an outstanding leader in the
conference, and was instrumental in planting dozens of churches with
other denominations and, since the 1960s, with the United Brethren church.
The following resolution was written by former Honduras missionary Harold
Wust on behalf of the Global Ministries Leadership Team of the US National
Conference.
Our sympathy to all who at this time are sad and mourn.
Don Arturo Casco has gone to be with Jesus.
He is rejoicing, while we are mourning.
He is resting, while we are struggling.
He has fought the good fight and finished the course, while we are
still battling.
He has now joined the cloud of witness who are watching us, while we
are still running the race.
So we mourn because we no longer can enjoy his presence, draw on his
wisdom, nor share in his sincere devotion to the church.
Henceforth, his memory must serve as our example.
He loved the Lord Jesus more than life. He survived threats, insults,
even plots on his life, but his faith and love for the Lord only became
stronger.
He loved his wife and family as Christ loves His church. One can see
this reflected in their devotion to each other.
He was fruitful in service to the Lord. Starting churches and winning
lost souls to Jesus Christ was his passion throughout his life until
the end.
He was gracious to all and honored others above himself.
He was joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.
He was ready to share with God's people who were in need, and at his
home, genuine Christian hospitality is practiced.
Above all else, he sought to be like Jesus.
We hereby wish to praise the Lord, honor the memory of Don Arturo,
and encourage those who are struggling with is loss by pledging ourselves
to live faithfully according to the virtues he has displayed for us.
May the wonderful name of Jesus Christ our Lord give you comfort, peace,
and rest.
