Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is comprised of delegates to the 2005 US National Conference. They held their first meeting on Monday, April 25. Their report was delivered to the bishop's office at the beginning of June. It included nominees for these positions:

• Bishop
• Director of Global Ministries
• Director of Education
• Executive Leadership Team
• Education Leadership Team

The members, as determined by the 2005 US National Board, are:

• Dennis Miller, chairperson (pastor, Emmanuel Community Church, Fort Wayne, Ind.)
• Kevin Cherry (pastor, Heart O the Lakes UB Church, Brooklyn, Mich.)
• Ron Cook (pastor, Salem UB Church, Chambersburg, Pa.)
• Dennis Sites (pastor, Jerusalem Chapel UB Church, Churchville, Va.)
• Brian Hughes (layperson, Main Street UB Church, Walbridge, Ohio)
• Dennis Burkholder (layperson, Kunkle UB Church, West Unity, Ohio)
• Thad Clements (layperson, Highland Avenue UB Church, Chanute, Kansas)

This year, in accordance with the existing structure, they will prepare ballots for the following positions:

• Bishop
• Director of Global Ministries
• Director of Education
• Executive Leadership Team members: 4 laypersons and 3 clergy
• Seven members of the Education Leadership Team

This could change, by action of the US National Conference. For instance, the direction set by the 2005 US National Board would have the bishop appoint the directors of Global Ministries and Education. But the Nominating Committee will need to prepare ballots for those positions ahead of time anyway.
