Referendum Results
During October 2004, members of United Brethren churches throughout the United States voted on three referendum items. Altogether, about 11,500 people voted. That is about 45% of the total US membership.
- The referendum on property passed with an 89% margin.
- The referendum on joining the Missionary Church failed, receiving 43% of the votes.
- The referendum on national conference representation passed with an 86% vote.
The two referenda which received over 50% of the votes will now be passed on to the June 2005 US National Conference, where a two-thirds vote of the 65 delegates can make them official. The referendum on the Missionary Church is dead, and will not be given any further consideration. Read the text of the three referendum items.
