Denominational Purpose Statement

The following statement was adopted by the General Board in 1978. It has never been rescinded, changed, or replaced.

Purpose

The Mission of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ is to effectively communicate the Gospel of Christ by word and deed toward the end that all men and women shall be saved and become faithful disciples of Christ and responsible members of His Church.

Objectives

To fuilfill our mission, we declare that the Church of the United Brethren in Christ has four purposes:

1. To worship God.
2. To edify believers.
3. To evangelize the lost.
4. To demonstrate social concern.
