Pat Jones

Director of Healthy Church Ministries

Pat Jones was invited by Bishop Ramsey in June of 2005 to become Director of Healthy Church Ministries. This is a new staff position at the UB Headquarters. He officially began in that position on August 15, 2005.

Pat Jones grew up in the King Street UB church in Chambersburg, Pa. He received Christ at the young age of seven during revival services at his home church. His pastor, Paul Baker, prayed with him. It was also during that time that he sensed the Lord calling him to ministry. As he puts it, "All I knew at that point is that what Rev. Baker was doing, I wanted to do."

He received his local conference license in the fall of 1977 and annual license in 1979. He was ordained in 1983 by his father-in-law, Bishop C. Ray Miller.

After graduating from high school in 1977, Pat entered Huntington University. He completed his undergraduate work in 1981, earning a BA in Bible and Religion. Two years later, in 1983, he received an MCM degree from the Huntington University Graduate School of Christian Ministries. In 1988, Pat received an MDiv degree from Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, Pa.

In 1982, Pat began serving as part-time associate at Prince Street UB, Shippensburg, Pa., and as part-time pastor of Immanuel Church, Carlisle, Pa. The latter was a new church plant started by Mid-Atlantic Conference. Pat served as the church planter.

In 1988, Pat became pastor of Devonshire Memorial UB church in Harrisburg, Pa. He served in that position until 1991, when he was assigned as senior pastor of King Street Church in Chambersburg, which was then and remains the largest church in the denomination. Under his leadership during the next 14 years, King Street's average attendance increased from around 700 to 1500.

In addition to his pastoral roles, Pat has filled a variety of conference and denominational positions. Within Mid-Atlantic Conference he has served as conference superintendent and on various boards and committees. At the denominational level, he has served on the Board of Church Services, the Executive Leadership Team, and the Education Leadership Team, plus a variety of task forces and study committees. Pat has been a General Conference delegate since 1989.

Pat is married to the former Pamela Miller. They were married in 1982. Pat and Pam have two children. Their daughter Jalonna, born in 1983, graduated from Huntington University in 2006 with a degree in Children and Family Ministry and now serves on staff with a large church in Wisconsin. Son Justin, born in 1987, is a freshman at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Ind., pursuing a double major in Ministry and Music Composition.
