National Conference Meeting

The US National Conference is the highest governing body for United Brethren churches in the United States. It meets every two years.

Beginning in 2007, every UB church can send a layperson as a delegate. Churches are permitted additional lay delegates based on average attendance in 2005: 1 delegate for up to 150 people, plus another delegate for each additional 100 people.

All ministers who hold a national conference or specialized ministries license are also eligible to be delegates, providing they are actively serving in a ministerial role.

The speaker will be Brad Powell, pastor of Northridge Community Church in Plymouth, Mich. Northridge was recently listed among the 50 Most Influential Churches in the United States (37th).

The United Brethren Discipline requires that churches elect their lay delegates during the month of February 2007. Also during February, members will vote on four proposed changes to the United Brethren Constitution. All United Brethren members in that congregation can vote.
