Long-time Mid-Atlantic Conference pastor Rev. Laban Hawbaker passed away July 16. He had been living in Chambersburg, Pa.

Central Conference met July 11-13 at Huntington College.

• Jeff Holter, pastor of Fairview UB in Hartford City, Ind., was ordained.
• Tom Datema, pastor of the Zanesville, Ind., UB church, was ordained.
• Retirement status was granted to Don Dennie, interim pastor of the Convoy, Ohio, church.
• Tom Brodbeck was re-elected to a third term as fulltime conference superintendent.

Dave and Cathie Datema are preparing to enter fulltime mission work with the US Center for World Mission in Pasadena, Calif. They have been approved as endorsed missionaries by the Missions Commission,which means they are free to solicit support in UB churches throughout the denomination. For the summer, the Datemas are living in Huntington in Dave's mother's home (while Eleanore is serving as a volunteer in Macau).
